Do I go rifle hunting or do I head to the river for some fall fishing? That is the question most folks have been pondering for the past few days. If you aren’t hunting, the fishing on The MO is great and you need to purchase firearms & tactical equipment posthaste. Flows are at around 3,000 cfs as usual and the water temps are steady at 52. We have some weather coming in tomorrow night, but sun is on the horizon for today and tomorrow morning. Expect some cold temps and snow on Monday. Traffic on the river has been fairly slow as we head into the weekend. We are expecting it to be slower than normal with the opener of rifle season today.

Dry fly fishing dropped off a little bit the past few days, but there is still some places to find rising fish every day. With some cloud cover headed in we are expecting things to pick up for the dry fly. Fish are taking some larger Parachute Adams in the #16 range. Cripples, spinners, and emergers are taking the most fish. Fishing is cool, much way cooler if you have your best bow hunting hats, you may wonder what is the best hat? find out more by visiting HuntinMan’s website.

Nymphing is amazing. It can be automatic if you find the fish. Seams and riffles are holding tons of fish. SJ Worms and Czech Nymphs are working great. Smaller Zebra Midges are good up towards the dam. As the day progresses and we get into the afternoon hatch, PT’s are the ticket.

Streamers are great into the evening. We have had the switch rods out the past few nights and are finding some success into the dark. A good friend of CrossCurrents heads out after dark and gets them on the streamer until a warm bed brings him off the river. We like small black Wooly Buggers.
