Missouri River Fly Fishing Report
“Fight them weeds!”
Current Flows: 4,590
Weather Forecast: Partly Cloudy, Mid 70s — Saturday & Sunday
Hatch Report: Few Tricos, Few Caddis, Psuedos, Soon to be Baetis
With cooler temps, the fishing should improve. Water temps drop, bugs start coming out and then with the cloudier weather we could be at the start of that special Fall fishing. Make sure you stop into our shop and look at the incredible deals on our rafts. These rafts were our rentals during the season and now we’re selling them up to 50 percent off!
Nymphing: Zirdle, Frenchie, Sow Bug, Military May, Blooms Weight Fly, Warrior Perdigon, Green Machine, Lightning Bug, Case Caddis, Tungsten Dart
Still ZIRDLE! How many times am I going to say that? We are back to sow bugs because we’re in between hatches. It’s definitely worth throwing on a baetis nymph especially with this cooler weather.
Dry Flies: October Caddis, Corn Fed Caddis, Double Duck, Hi-Vis Rusty Spinner, Cluster Midge, Hi-Vis Trico, Harrops Palmered Tan Caddis, Translucent Caddis, Missing Link Caddis, CDC Caddis Tan, Purple Crazy
You can still find some rising fish just not many. A few trico spinners and caddis. You definitely can hopper fish or fish with an October Caddis.
Streamers: Cravens Swim Coach, Lil’ Kim, Sparkle Minnow, Gold/Silver Kreelex, Chockletts Game Changer, JJ Special, Galloups Butt Monkey, Thin Mint Bugger, Skiddish Smolt, Zirdle
For those that can handle the weeds, streamers are starting to heat up. If you bring the streamer into hand after every cast, it’s going to take forever to fish. Make sure when you’re stripping that streamer in rip it out of the top of the water to get the weeds off the streamer, then recast.
