The best tenkara level line anywhere: very little memory right out of the spool, the right stiffness for casting, and most importantly VERY HIGH VISIBILITY! This is the preferred line used by Dr. Hisao Ishigaki, leading tenkara authority in Japan and developed exclusively for Tenkara USA. Which line to choose? We recommend the 4.5 Orange Level Line for those new to tenkara. The 4.5 level line will be the easiest to cast and get used to. With more experience, we advise trying the lighter (3.5 and eventually 2.5 lines).  The Tenkara Level Line is specifically formulated for tenkara fly fishing and is available exclusively through Tenkara USA and its dealers. 20meter (65ft) spools allow you to cut 4 or 5 lines out of one spool. For example, cut one that is 12ft long, one that is 18ft for larger waters. Traditional Lines or Level Lines? Shop Staff Notes:  The TenkaraUSA Level Line is the “techie” line to use when fishing using the traditional tenkara methods -keeping all of your line out of the water with just the fly and little bit of leader on or in the the water for extremely controlled and drag-free drifts. For some people just getting started in tenkara, these lines can have a bit of a learning curve to use properly and effectively but once you get the technique down, they are very effective.  The longer amount of line on these spools allows you to cut it up and make 2 or 3 different length lines to use under different conditions or with different length Tenkara rods.  There’s a little more set up involved with this Level Line as you need to measure, cut and knot up to attach to the Lilian and your Leader/Tippet.  We sell far more TenkaraUSA Traditional Tapered Lines as a result and it’s mainly our Tenkara devotees that purchase these TenkaraUSA Level Lines.  These lines work well when coupled with the TenkaraUSA The Keeper as you can spool up to 3 different length or types of lines on this gadget and always have them handy.  We recommend that you get them together as you will find The Keeper to be super handy.
