We are really enjoying the atypically low flows right now. With the MO at around 4900 cfs (normally around 5800), the dry fly bite has been picking up significantly, and the cloudy days of late have resulted in some banner sessions. The chillier weather has heated up the action on the MO. We’ve seen some classic spring weather here the last few days, and it has corresponded with more bugs, more risers, and more tight lines. Wow, is it really late August? Summer here in Craig is definitely winding down. Cool mornings and cloud cover are a nice harbinger of fall. The MO is rockin’ and rollin’ as we head into mid August. Cooler-than-average temperatures have made for some comfortable days on the river, and they’ve also tamped down the number of boats (and tubes, flamingos, rubber ducks, floating dragons, etc.) out there.
