The Amplitude Smooth series of lines are, simply put, the highest-performance smooth fly lines in the world. With up to five times less drag and eight times the durability of traditional lines, this will change the way you look at fly line performance.
Tarpon. Bonefish. Permit. All in one day. All on one fly line. That’s the idea behind the Amplitude Smooth Grand Slam, a line designed specifically to help you achieve one of angling’s most elusive accomplishments. With a short, powerful head the Grand Slam cuts through wind and turns over crabs, shrimp, and tarpon toads with ease. We’ve got the line. You just need the fish.

Shop Staff Notes: The Scientific Anglers Amplitude Smooth fly lines are pretty awesome in performance. Although most of us here at CCFS love textured lines for trout because of the huge casting advantage they offer -we are not big fans of it for saltwater or when we are doing a lot of stripping of the fly lines. They can wear on your fingers to the point of pain if you don’t use a Buff Finger Guard. The Amplitude Smooth series offers a lot of the same technology as it’s cousin, the Amplitude Textured, but you don’t need to be concerned about bringing your Stripping Guards (although we still recommend them for any saltwater adventure for one that big one grabs and bolts away when you’re not on your reel yet!). This Grans Slam taper is so easy to cast and turn over a fly -even in the winds you typically get on the flats. This is an excellent choice for the beginner to tropical big game or the experienced angler who needs a rocket launcher of a fly line!
Info on SA Technologies:
–AST Plus: A new formulation of our patented dry-slick technology provides continual line slickness over the lifetime of the line. Up to 50% slicker than the original AST and 200% more durable than the competition. Fly lines with AST Plus cast farther, float higher, and stay cleaner than any other lines ever built.
–SA Tropi-Core: Tropical environments are not only taxing on the angler but can also be taxing on a fly line. Lines with Tropi-Core™ technology can withstand the hottest boat decks and warmest water environments. Combine the Tropi-Core™ technology with our proprietary hard saltwater coating and species-specific tapers, and you have the best in saltwater fly-line technology.
–Welded Loops: Exceptionally slick and strong, our Welded Loops produce smoother casts and easier turnover with a seamless fly-line-to-loop transition, making for softer landings and cleaner pickups. The sleek design also maintains buoyancy for improved fly-line flotation and enables quicker connections between fly line and leaders or Versileaders, or fly line and backing.
-SA ID: Meet the Scientific Anglers Line Identification System. SA•ID is an innovative line-marking system allowing you to identify your lines at a glance. Wonder if a shooting head is 200 grain or a 300 or is that the Hydros SL Reel with the 5 weight or 6 weight line? Just look at the SA•ID. The SA•ID can be found on the first 1-2 feet of the tip section of your line.
