Little Green Machine
Colors: Pheasant Tail, Black, Gray, Chartreuse
Sizes: #16, #18, #20
It could be easily argued that if you had to only use one nymph on the MO it would be the Little Green Machine. This awesome beadhead nymph is in every Guide’s fly box on the Missouri River. (At least the local Guides that know the river!) In the Black or Gray in a size #20 is perfect for a Midge pupa and we do use this all year long but it’s especially good for Winter when the only bug hatching is the Midge. It can cover just about every Mayfly species from Baetis to PMD to Trico and Pseudo. (Use the Chartreuse version for the Pseudo in late Summer.) Another use for the Little Green Machine is to fish a #18 or #20 in Black, 6 to 18 inches behind a dry fly (like a Parachute Adams) or a couple Pinch On Indicators, to imitate a drowned Trico Spinner.
If you order one of our Missouri River Fly Assortments, you’ll see a few of these flies in that box.
(Note- Size 16 have a wire rib. No rib on size 18 and 20. There may be slight variations from the photos as we have several tiers and slight differences in dye batches in the materials. But not to worry, all of them are fish catching little morsels!)
