The Mini Dungeon by Kelly Galloup is one of his original articulated streamers and still one of the best big fish catching patterns. There are a few other patterns with other names that try to mimic this streamer, but they can’t keep up, not even close. We carry this fly in several colors because it’s such an effective fly pattern. If you’re looking for some juicy meat to throw, be sure to have this one in your box.  We recommend using a strong 6 weight or a 7 weight fly rod and 0X tippet to fish this fly.  It’s got dumbbells for weight but tying it on behind a Versileader is a great idea.

Excellent on the Missouri River, over on the Big Blackfoot, and a must have when floating the Smith River if you want to target the BIG fish!  We are sure this streamer will work in any river that has large trout in it!   Fish this fly on a traditional leader or better yet, use a RIO Spey VersiLeader to help get your fly down to the right depth. Don’t loose it by using it on tippet smaller than 0X!  We usually use 16#, 12# or 0X Mirage Fluorocarbon Tippet for stealth and abrasion resistance or 0X SuperStrong Nylon Tippet.
