Helios 3D 8-Weight, 9-Foot Fly Rods are designed for exceptional accuracy but with enhanced power. They are the most accurate fly rods ever built, but offer remarkable strength and the ability to place a fly where you want it at distance. The Helios 3D 908-4 is in its element when the fish are breaking 20 feet further out or the flies are the size of small chickens. Strip out more line and drop it in their lap with distance, power, and uncanny accuracy. No cast ever thrown is identical to any other cast ever thrown. The variables of caster, rod, and conditions are too great. Helios 3D was designed to significantly reduce the variables at the point of release focusing the energy of the cast to the intended target. Shop Staff Notes:  The Orvis Helios 3D 9′ 8-weight Fly Rod is the quintessential saltwater flats fly rod. This rod has lots of oomph to punch out a Crazy Charlie at tailing Bonefish in a 20mph Bahama “breeze” and possesing plenty of backbone to handle that big Cuda that’s cruising the edge of the flats too. A great Redfish rod too.  It would also be a good choice for those folks that step over into the dark side and drift nymphs for Steelhead.  (Hey, no judgement here if you want to be a drooling, slack-jaw, jughead and do some indicator fishing for amazing anadromous adrenaline. Look, I get it, you either probably haven’t felt the grab of a three footer on a tight line swing with a fun-to-fish switch or spey rod or you’ve spent too many nights closing down Joe’s Bar. Like I said, no judgement here!)  Okay, forget the nymphing for Steelhead thing -this Helios 3D 9′ 8-weight Fly Rod is simply awesome in the salt!  I would load it up one line size to make it load quicker and deeper for those snap shots when a gray ghost sneaks in on you and you’ve got to get it out without a bunch of backcasts.  It also helps if you like to fish with fly in hand and scanning from the bow of a skiff or panga.
