Shop Staff Notes:  The new, Orvis HELIOS D 10′ 4-weight Fly Rod is probably one of the best rods for nymphing you can fish!  Excels both in a boat and for the wade angler. The 10′ gives you better reach and mending for precise line control giving you much better drifts. Our Guides love the 10′ 4-weight for their Clients to use for 4 main reasons – 1-They can make anyone’s cast improve with a nymph rig.  2-The line if already past the oars so there’s less entanglement in the oar blades (very nice for the stern angler). 3-When our Guide hollers, ‘Mend!’ the line moves so effectively with that extra foot of rod, that our Clients just better drifts! (Then you get to hear our Guides yell, ‘SET!’ more often!). And reason 4 is this rod, even though it’s 10 feet long, being a 4-weight, feels so light in your hand that you can cast it all day without getting fatigued. We like to pair this rod with SA’s Anadro/Nymph Fly Line or a long-head line like SA Infinity or Orvis Power or Orvis Trout – especially if those lines are one size up (5-weight) as they all will get the rod to load when picked up with just a few feet out the rod tip. If you do a lot of nymphing, then you should seriously consider this rod.
