Mission Skagit Heads are designed to deliver large flies and sink tips when fishing two-handed rods. These are short and powerful shooting heads. They load easily and do not require a lot of room behind you to get the necessary casting stroke to send these heavier setups to their intended target. These lines are preferred for anglers trying to get flies swinging deep. They are extremely versatile lines, easy to cast, and can be applied to many two-handed scenarios. The Skagit heads should be paired with our Mission Running Line and Mission Tips to complete the kit. Multifilament core, two welded loops for ease of rigging, and rear of head is colored orange to easily identify the transition from running line to head for ideal casting load point. Shop Staff Notes:  The Mission series of lines and tips makes setting up your two-handed rod easy and casting powerful and fun. The Orvis Mission Skagit is a super easy casting shooting head that is powerful for launchings big flies or heavy flies and/or heavy sink tips. Skagit lines tend to be the easiest lines to cast for beginners because of their short casting stroke, power and a bit of forgiveness in timing. Not that Skagit is just for beginners -not at all.  These lines are excellent fishing tools to reach fish that Scandi and traditional lines can’t get to. Since it’s like throwing a baseball attached to dental floss, there’s not much delicacy to there presentation so they are not well suited for shallower water or skating dries. But if you’re swinging a Pick ‘Yer Pocket behind a 10’ T-11 on Double Eagle Run, these are the shooting heads to throw!  You will need to fish this head with a Tips (Mission Tips, MOW Tips).  They don’t do well throwing Spey Versileaders, though in the Trout Spey sizes, you could get away with it. You’ll also need a Running Line (aka- Shooting Line) to pair up with this head.  (Mission Shooting Line, RIO Connect Core,  RIO Metered Shooting Line).
