Tenkara USA Rhodo Fly Rod
Triple Zoom Length: 8’10” / 9’9″ / 10’6″
Perfect for small streams with brushy banks. Includes rod sock and hard tube case.
Despite its beautiful flowers sometimes anglers find themselves losing flies to the overreaching branches of the rhododendron. We developed the TenkaraUSA Rhodo™, a rod that can be fished short when things get tight, or longer when the stream opens up.The Tenkara USA Rhodo™ is the lightest feeling tenkara rod we make. With several years of design experience under our belt and feedback from our users, we feel we have achieved what we set out to do: give you a rod that is super light-weight, durable, versatile and feels very precise. Plus, we wanted to design a rod that would make it easy to answer “which tenkara rod should I get?”.
The TenkaraUSA Rhodo has two patent pending features:
Triple-zoom: this allows you to use the rod at three different lengths – 8’10”/ 9’9”/10’6” = 270/297/320cm. Since we began Tenkara USA people have been asking for a sub-9ft tenkara rod. We felt that a short rod could come in handy in some cases but for the most part anglers would miss the advantage that comes from fishing with a long tenkara rod. So, we developed a rod that could be the best of both worlds: short when you need it, long when you want it!
Keep your Plug ™ system (patent pending): We’re very excited about this very simple yet innovative feature. After hearing that no one has ever been able to keep their tenkara rod plug for longer than a year we decided we should find a solution for you to never lose your plug again. We designed the “Keep your plug”™ system. Next time you go fishing, remove the plug from the top end of your rod and insert it into the hole at the bottom of your rod. The TenkaraUSA Rhodo will come with two plugs on the rod; please leave one at home in case you ever need it.

Shop Staff Notes: The TenkaraUSA Rhodo is one of our top selling Tenkara rods (it’s nearly a tie with the Iwana and Sato). Why? Because not only is it a super fun, fine casting fly rod but the triple zoom feature gives it the very practical ability to adjust to the river conditions (actually the stream bank conditions!). If you’re on a small stream and the trees and brush along the banks are tight, keep it at the shorter length. As you move along the creek and it opens up or the brush gives way to just grasses, then zoom it out! Length on a Tenkara rod is helpful so being able to adjust it when conditions allow, gives you more “Tenkara ability” to effectively fish. This type of innovation is one reason why we love the TenkaraUSA rods. If you are an angler who primarily fishing just the small streams, than this will be your favorite rod!
